Size guide

How deep each Collection is, how size names work, and what fits with what. New to MODULITH? How It Works covers the basics in a few minutes.

Which depth do I need?

Measure what you want to store from front to back, leaving a little room to grab it. Choose a drawer with enough inside depth, then check that the complete build fits your space.

Each Collection is named after its case depth in millimeters. The 185 is a good starting point.

Measurements in mm. Inside depths are approximate; Decor measurements include the back cover. Cases shown at the same scale.

CollectionCase depthInside drawerSize comparison
59 Ultra-shallow 59 45
115 Medium 115 101
165 Mini Edition 165 151
185 Standard 185 171
240 Deep 240 226
270 Large 270 256

Not sure where to start? A Starter Build has the parts already chosen. To check a drawer's full inside size, width and height too, use the size picker in the next answer.

What does a size like 185 2W-1H mean?

Case and drawer names give depth, width and height, in that order. Other parts use only the measurements that apply to them.

185 2W-1H

  • Depththe Collection, how far back it goes
  • Width2 x 88 mm = 176 mm
  • Height1 x 56 mm of installed height

Widths and heights combine freely in one build. Depth comes from the Collection.

Pick any size to see its measurements and the space inside a drawer. The menus offer only the sizes each Collection makes.

185 2W-1H decoded: 185 = collection (depth class) · 2W = 176mm wide · 1H = 56mm installed height

A 2W-1H drawer in the 185 collection holds 159 × 48 × 171 mm inside (W × H × D).

Which depths can stand on a desk?

Every depth can hang under a table or mount on a wall. All except the 59 can also stand on a desk; the 59 is too shallow for feet. Each way of mounting adds a few parts:

MountAdds
Tabletopfoot rails, feet, top covers
Under-tableunder-table rail, wood screws
Wall-mountedwall bracket, wood screws, top covers

Can one build mix depths?

One depth throughout is the simplest. Whether you can mix depends on how the build is mounted:

  • On a desk: Normally one depth. Size Adapter Covers join the released depth pairs.
  • Under a table: Depths can mix. A shallower case hangs beneath a deeper one on Bi-Directional QuickLocks.
  • On a wall: One depth throughout.

Which faceplates and handles fit my drawer?

Faceplates are sized by width and height, not by depth. A 2W-1H faceplate fits a 2W-1H Decor drawer in every Collection from 59 to 270. Back covers are sized the same way.

A back cover fits behind the faceplate on an open-front Decor drawer. Older closed-front Decor drawers take the faceplate without one. On a Gridfinity Decor drawer, leave its tear-away front in and skip the back cover, or take the front out and the back cover fits.

Every handle uses the same 44 mm two-hole mount, so any handle fits any faceplate that takes one. Essential and Chevron faceplates take a handle; the other series have the grip printed in. Classic drawers have their grip printed into the drawer itself and take no faceplate at all.

Browse them in the faceplate catalog.

Why does a 1H case print 59 mm tall, not 56?

Heights count the space a case takes up in a build, not the plastic. A 1H case prints 59 mm tall, but the 3 mm dovetail rails on its top slide up into the case above, so it takes up 56 mm. Plan your space in installed heights: 56 mm for every H.

case above this case 59 56 A 1H case prints 59 mm tall. Its 3 mm dovetail rises into the case above, so it occupies 56 mm of the grid. The grid counts space, not plastic.
